We stayed in downtown St. Paul. This picture of the Mississippi was taken through our window, so maybe not the best pic, but what an awesome view!
By 3:00 in the afternoon we were ready to take a break. Look at the crowd! They had record breaking attendance and the cooler weather may be why!
This is as close as we get to the midway! We spend most of our time wondering through all the exhibits, from the Fine Arts to the Techie Building. We also have to find my favorite foods because what is a Fair without food! I also know autumn is almost here because all my apple trees are now ripe! I need to get back out and pick some more but in the mean time....
This little fellow waits his turn
While Dad fills up his stomach! I thought this pic was kind of neat since I caught him right in the act! See that red round thing in his mouth? HA! And see the nice set of antlers he is growing? Looks like some lucky hunter may have a nice tasting deer come this November. I only wish you were all closer, especially Cuisine Kathleen. She is always asking how her apples are coming along. I wish you could all come pick some! My Mom has 3 ripe trees herself so I can't give any to her. We have been slicing and freezing a lot of them and I need to get some of my family here this week-end to spread them out! Now go visit our lovely hostess Susan by clicking on the link above. There will be oodles of Outdoor pics to explore!! Cindy
I am so glad you enjoyed the state fair. Loved your pictures but the mid-way pic was quiet impressive. They are difficult at best. Good job girl. Have a restful evening and God bless!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteSure wish I lived near. I would LOVE some apples!! I inherited a knack for making pie crusts from my Mom (who is the best pie crust maker ever... she uses lard instead of Crisco)... and I am aching for a homemade apple pie!!
Great pics Cindy! How do you get your photos so big on blogspot? Love the look.
I just love the fairs! It IS a precursor to autumn! And we've had such a cool summer that it seems more so! What a cute picture of the fawn and buck eating the apple! Heck...red apples...fall is coming.
ReplyDeleteI love fairs - especially the animals and the food!!! You don't have to go to the fair to see animals though!!!! What a great picture of the deer with the apple!!!! :D Jewel
ReplyDeleteI love state fairs, or any festival, for that matter. The deer are so cute, and your apples look like they made a tasty snack for them.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun, especially as a family outting. Love apples, too, but I don't like to eat bambis...I'll stick to lettuce, thanks anyway. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteHello Cindy - I'm from Wisconsin too. I haven't been to the twin cities in about 10 years. We went to the local County fair here n August.
ReplyDeleteI would like to visit Minnesota someday but maybe in the summer. Your pictures of the deer are amazing, Cindy!...Christine

What fun!! Great Deer shot:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos Cindy.
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me to see how the Mississippi narrows along the way, up north.
I love the deer photos, too!
Oh my, the fair looks like so much fun. I always enjoy going too. I am with you, the only thing I like about the Midway is to just watch the little children having so much fun. Your apples look so good. The deer are so pretty to watch, but pappa really is helping himself. lol Wish we were closer and I would help you pick some and take a few if I could. Thanks for stopping by my post and as always leaving such kind comments. You asked about where to find a cloche. The only help I can be is to suggest that you google Glass Cloche or Garden Cloche and you should find several in all kinds of different price ranges and sizes. I havn't seen any in the department stores recently. If you don't find one, remember you can use an apothecary jar and decorate inside it. They have some really big and pretty ones at Marshalls, TJMaxx, Ross and Target. I also saw some at Home Goods, but they were a lot more money. Last time some people also used wire and metal ones and even cake and cheese domes. So that's an idea also. Good luck. I know you can come up with something. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteFantastic pictures, Cindy! I LOVE the one you took of the deer, caught with the apple in his mouth. That is priceless.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a grand time at the Fair!
