Our Lilacs are in bloom!

Our lilacs are in bloom!  May, my hands down  favorite month of the year.  Both of my children have May birthdays and my step-son's is in early June.  May is a month of weddings, graduations and new beginnings.

The lilacs are just starting to fill out this week.  We only live 5 miles from town and they have had lilacs in full bloom for over a week.  I guess they are just a tad bit warmer.   I can't smell them though.  Hubby had a really bad cold this week and of course I had to get it.  When I sneeze or cough my stitches hurt.  I guess my resistance was already down.

My bleeding heart is also in bloom!

It's still filling in but it make me smile just to look at it.

And this beautiful cake stand also makes me smile.  It's going to my Mil for Mothers Day.

I found it in the clearance aisle at TJ Maxx.  Only $10!  I think she will like it, I know I do.

Well my friends, that's about it for me today.  I am resting and hoping to get over this nasty cold soon.

I am joining Susan for Outdoor Wednesday.

And Marla for WooHoo Wednesday.

  1. What beautiful flowers and colors. I especially like the lilacs. I think I remember these a "hundred" years ago when we lived in the northern part of Maine, near Canada. I have some beautiful video of them. Thanks for reminding me of them.
    Take care!

  3. I adore your flourishing lilacs and bleeding hearts, and want to grow them. They are flowers from my family's garden in Wisconsin when I grew up. These are great flowers.

  13. I adore your lilacs. Every year I say I am going to plant some...well this is going to be the year. ANd I have been meaning to ask you what the name is of the flowering bushes in front of your house? They are fabulous!!

Your MIL is going to love the cake stand. You just can't go wrong at Marshalls. My only problem is I spend too much money there with all of the deals and of course, buying things I don't need! ;-D

I hope you feel better soon. Try squeezing a soft pillow against your stomach when you cough or sneeze. It really helps the pain.

  16. Beautiful lilacs and cake stand! Lean forward when you feel a cough or sneeze coming on. It lessens the strain on your surgical area and muscles in that area. Take care.

  36. Oh Cindy I hope you get over your cold soon so you can enjoy the scent of those beautiful lilacs. They are just lovely! We have some sort of wild blooming shrub all around our house and you can smell its perfume in the air the second you step out the door. Your bleeding heart is huge! I've never had any except in a hanging basket. I need to add one to my garden! When I do I will think of you every time I see it. The cake plate is simply beautiful and so feminine. Your MIL will love it! Take care my friend and feel better soon. Hugs

  39. Cindy, sweetie, this is NOT the time to get a cold with all those wonderful flowery smells to enjoy! :)
I'm sorry your stitches hurt. It's been seven months and it still hurts when I sneeze. Not bad, but I can feel it.
You are the second person I have run across that has mentioned that young woman who is traveling and lecturing.
I am running so FAR behind in my visits...and I think I am becoming discouraged!

I have no lilacs here..but I wish so much that I did. How beautiful they are..and to see that lovely pink petal glory all over the ground must have been a joy. I loved the photo. What a beautiful month this is...

  53. I love lilacs, but don't see them much here in southern California. They remind me of my grandma's yard. She had the most beautiful flower garden. So spring reminds me of her.

Sorry to hear you now have a cold & can't smell the beautiful flowers. Take care of yourself.

Thanks for visiting my blog & leaving me a comment on my tablescape.

Well my friend, I always enjoy seeing your beautiful lilacs!!! They really are one of my favorite flowers...love that lilac color and ohhh, that sweet scent! I love that pretty french floral bucket that you have them in!!! I think that's what those are called??? You know, our lilacs around here are just beginning to bloom as well! I have just a few on our bush...the buds are there but not bloomed out yet! Ohhh...and I love your Bleeding Heart plant...those really are one of the most beautiful and unique flowers ever! Love the two toned pinks! Sooo very pretty, Cindy! I should look into finding one of those plants...I'm sure that they would do well here!

Love, love, LOVE that pretty cake plate pedestal that you gave your MIL for Mother's Day! I'm sure she loved it!!! You sure got a great deal on it...don't you just love TJ Maxx! Hehe!

Love you, dear friend! Sure hope that your feeling better from that cold by now! Oooh...that must have been painful...coughing and stitches...eeeks!!!
