Can you guess what tree won out? Faux or fir real?
Saturday was a cloudy day but quite warmer than usual for around these parts.
After an early morning visit with Santa, it was off to the woods we go! Addison waiting ever so patiently in line for her turn.
Let me just say that little 2 year old Addison had no intentions of sitting on his lap! She did finally agree to the chair and even smiled, but lest not let him get too close was her motto.
We have numerous cut your own tree farms within a few mile radius of us. First things first, check out the variety we want this year.
We decided on a Balsam Fir. Frasier Fir hold there needles really well and are considered the Cadillac of Christmas trees. However Balsam have a stronger scent, also hold there needles fairly well and I wanted a really fat tree. The Frasier were just not that full this year.
Next step, stand still and smile for the picture with the tree we have chosen and then....
pat Grandpa on the head while he tries to cut down our tree with a rather dull saw!
My hubby may be the most patient Grandpa ever.
Then it was off to check out our little towns Christ kindle celebration. Every time I tried to take a pic of this camel and Addison he would move his head rather quickly back and forth. He really did not want his pic taken.
Our small town parade wasn't too much but seemed to make a little 2 year old happy! Then on Sunday, I spent most of the day decorating our 7.5 ft. chubby balsam fir. Did I mention that she only cost $25!! Trees are abundant and cheap around here.
And here she is in all her glory! I am very happy with our tree and we made some great memories to boot!

ReplyDeleteWe own a Christmas tree farm...(we don't farm it, it is just for deer hunting) 35 acres of Christmas trees & I get a pick.. I always get the Balsam, as it is the deer's favorite food. They eat as far up the tree as they can. So we always cut the top off a very lg. tree that the deer have been munching on all winter... makes a perfect tree... & they smell so good.. : )

Addison just steals the show, she's so stinkin cute! Love the photo of her patting her grandpa. Priceless. Can't believe you got that tree for only $25. It's beautiful.

ReplyDelete$25! I think it would be cheaper to buy our tree over there and pay freight and import charges, than it would be to buy one locally!

How cute! We went to see Santa with our 5 at son's country club Sunday. It was really nice. The 4 yo who had walloped his 6 yo bro in the face with the wii device right before they left, asked Santa for an ice pack for his bro.'s face!
ReplyDeleteYour tree looks beautiful! We have farms here to cut trees too, but we gave up on that a few years ago. They are over 50 dollars, so I donate that to St. Jude's instead. Bet it smells great in your house!
What a little darling Addison is!!! I love that picture with her and Santa. What a big smile!!! We cut down our tree every year too! The one you picked is beautiful! I would love to try a Balsam... but all we have around here is Frazer!

ReplyDeleteAddison is a little doll! Christmas is so special with little ones in the house, isn't it? Your tree looks beautiful in your den with the nice big fireplace.
We have a lot of Christmas tree farms here in NC, and we've been getting Frazier Firs for about 25 years now. That seems to be the one most commonly grown around here. They're such a bargain at the tree farms and so very fresh.
