Welcome to my 3rd Tablescape Thursday sponsored by Susan our hostess with the mostest! Please visit her blog http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ to view some talented tablescapers! In keeping with my winter theme, I decided to set my table with winter whites and birds! My centerpiece is a little pottery vase filled with cranberries. I also used my plaid table runner, my fat little cardinal and of course my salt and pepper birds!
A view out the window. Still snow, and it's still cold! I have my duck soup tureen that I got at a garage sale for $2, because when it's this cold you have to have soup! I also used my glass ware I got from Mexico years ago.
The china was in a box at a garage sale this summer. I think I paid $5 for a whole bunch of settings, the red napkins were from the Wal-mart clearance bin.
Besides soup we would also have pop-overs. Pop-overs are popular in Minnesota and Wisconsin. I have included the recipe I use at the bottom of this post.
Here's a pic of my cardinal place mats! I still love them and I've had them for years!
And of course my cute little birdie salt and pepper shakers that I picked up recently for $2.99.
I got a great deal on the flatware! They were originally $80.00 for the 45 piece set. I picked them up at Penney's for $19.95 they are called the Cambridge Series and I like their simplicity.
Below is a pic of a pop-over. I just took this pic off the Internet and usually they look a little lighter and puffier than this.
