Outdoor Wednesday/or sunflowers and deserts

Welcome to another Outdoor Wednesday hosted by Susan @ http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ . This is my 3rd time participating and I think it's quite fun! Thank-you Susan for hosting this. For Outdoor Wednesday I wanted to find some pictures we had taken that were a bit of a contrast. The picture below is of a field of sunflowers taken not far from where we live. I love sunflowers, they just seem to glow and dance in the sun.
By contrast this was taken last time we visited my son who lives in Tempe, AZ. (WAH, WAH, I want him back in Wisconsin) This pic was taken somewhere outside of Phoenix. It was late October, still in the 90's and quite dry. When I see this I think of some rugged individuals making there way over such a forbidden terrain. I also think of rattlesnakes (oh my)

This last pic was taken at a high school football game when my daughter was a cheerleader. If you look close she is the far one off to your right. This pic reminds me of small town America, a picture that repeats itself as Friday Night Lights all over this great land of ours. Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Cindy

  7. sunflowers rock when planted like that. I plant just a few around the house for the look and for the birds. the dessert photo looks tempting but alittle scary.

  8. Cindy, I loved all of these. You are so right about the shot with your daughter... that is All American for sure! :-) And I love the desert shot and particularly the shot of those gorgeous sunflowers. They are magnificent! God sure knew what He was doing when he made them, didn't He?

    Happy OW! :-)

  10. I had never seen fields of sunflowers until we went to Wash DC last year. I was so amazed I made John stop the car so I could get photos.

  11. Great pictures! I love the field of sunflowers, I would just grin every time I drove by. The desert shot is very impressive, but I'm like you, the first thing I think of are reptiles without legs. And the last picture just brings a huge smile to my face - being the mom of a band kid in a small Texas town, this looks VERY familiar! Great post. Kathy

  16. WOW, Those sunflowers are stunning, my favourite flowers, the Arizona dessert makes me think of snakes too but pretty in a rugged sort of way and your daughters football photo is wonderful, Kathy.

  17. We also have a big field of Sunflowers near by. Every-time I drive by their beautiful faces turn to greet me. Well I wish it was for me but of course we all know they follow the sun... oh well I still say it's for me.
    Lovely photos Cindy.

  23. HI Cindy! I think the Phoenix pic was my favorite one. Something about the desert seems to whisper freedom to me. Maybe it's teh solitude it evokes.

It was so much fun visiting your blog! Your pictures for OW are gorgeous (and contrasting!) I love the sunflowers, love yellow flowers...but I think you should frame that~it's sooo Midwest!!!

I hear ya on the Friday Night Lights. It brings back so many memories of the small town I lived in when I was in high school. Those footaball games just drew everyone together.

  27. Hi Cindy....first off THANKS FOR VISITING MY BLOG AND LEAVING A WONDERFUL COMMENTS.

Your Blog is just wonderful!!! Thanks for inviting me....and so glad to have found another Wisconsin Blogger.

Couldn't find a place to comment on your Valentine Table Scape....so will do it here. It's just beautiful. Isn't it fun finding ways to decorate (and beautifully I must add) with GW/flea market/antiques finds? I like the challenge.

I'll be back you can count on it!
    Hugs, Karen
