We had a whopping 15 minutes of sun this morning. So I grabbed my camera and ran outside to get a pic of my clematis. They are just about in full bloom and quite glorious!
There are still blooms to come and hopefully the sun will show up tomorrow and help it along
Last year, in early spring I dug in there and got rid of all the old underbrush and thorns.
Big Mistake!
I was pulling like crazy and ran a thorn deep into my finger. My hubby, being the building construction teacher that he is suggested I wait and see since splinters generally work their way out.
After a few days my finger was swollen and throbbing. I went to the Dr. and they had to cut it out and even put in some stitches. This year I just left the bugger alone!
.
And speaking of hubbies. Here he is inspecting the gazebo he helped his nephew build for his Eagle Scout project. It was built in a community park and I think it is quite lovely.
I am joining Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday.

ReplyDeleteYour clematis is certainly glorious, this is for sure!!! I love clematis and I cannot grow one. I have tried twice and I have given up for now. Yours is lovely, though, I'm glad somebody can grow them.

Oouch! Sorry about the splinter. Your Clematis is so pretty and I really like the gazebo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. You would NOT want the heat and humidity we have had the last couple of days and more to come. Typical of the MidSouth.
Glenda

ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, your clematis is gorgeous! I have tried so many times to grow clematis and cannot do it for the life of me! I love them but I guess they don't love me. LOL! I've had thorns stuck in my hand before and they are painful! I don't blame you I would leave it alone from now on. It certainly doesn't look like it needs any help. It's so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOuch for you finger and that clematis is so pretty an so full.

Beautiful clemantis, it has so many blooms. I'm glad you got a little sun. I wish I could pack some up and send it to you!
ReplyDeleteI think your clematis is "wearing" my favorite color!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your husband and a tip of the hat for the contribution to your community.
...and hearing of your episode with the thorn brings a twinge of second-hand pain to me. Hope it heals completely soon.
Oh Cindy, this is gorgeous! Our Clematis have never done this well!
ReplyDeleteLove the gazebo, too.
Your clematis is beautiful. I have a purple one like it that our Son bought me for a birthday years ago. I had to move it last year and right now it is finally starting to grow great. Hopefully next year it will be full like yours.
ReplyDeleteWillow
Your clematis is sure thriving. Love that color! It must have a super spot to grow. Happy Outdoor Wed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and stunning flowers. I've always wanted to grow Clematis, I'll have to see if they will grow here. Thorns can be nasty, I used to grow bougainvillea in California and wore those special gloves for working with roses. They came up to my elbows and were made of a material that the thorns couldn't penetrate.
ReplyDelete(I'm having a giveaway!) I thought of you yesterday as I made a beautiful salad on a beautiful plate. I think those dishes just make everything taste better!
Your clematis is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh Cindy, your comment brought back such vivid memories!! Yes, I do remember Taylor & Jones!! Oh the hours we spent picking out fabric for 4-H sewing projects.
Do you remember Maxwell Street Days? One of my favorite memories from my childhood... when everything was out on the sidewalks.
Thanks for jarring those memories Cindy!
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeletePurple is one of my favorite colors and that purple clematis is just gorgeous! I've had experiences in my garden with splinters and now I try to always wear gloves.
Your husband and nephew did a wonderful job on that gazebo and it will be there for many, many people's enjoyment! Good job!
~Jean
Your clematis is gorgeous. I did almost the same thing a last month when trying to clear out some of my bougainvillea. Luckily for me I did not have to go to the ER, but it did get infected. The gazebo is beautifully made, your husband and nephew should be proud of themselves.
ReplyDeleteWow! Cindy it is huge and gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous clematis....so beautiful and healthy looking. You surely have a green thumb. Linda
ReplyDeleteYour husband is so clever in building the gazebo, but he should have stopped being a doctor. My Mum was a doctor, LOL. She would use a needle and dug and dug until she got the splinter out. She said, if the splinter doesn't come out, it would travel to our heart and then we die. That was enough to make us sit still and let her dig the splinter out. OUCH!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad the stitches have been made and you survived to show us you beautiful clementis.
The only thing worse than a splinter or thorn in your finger is having someone who does not have said problem, tell you to just leave it alone. Your clementis is gorgeous.
