Family Happenings.

Hi all!
I sure have gotten behind in my blogging.  I guess it happens sometimes and I sure do miss it!
I hope you don't mind if I share a bit of our family happenings.
My sister Susie (purple shirt) and a friend of hers are opening up a little gift shop soon.
I am so excited for them!
They are both art teachers and they are both quite talented!

Here is an example of some of their pottery.  My sister really is good at this!  She has sold several pieces and taken her art to area shows to display and sell.  Their store will be located in the Mississippi river town of  Alma, Wisconsin.  Located right along the Great River Road,  Alma is an artsy little town, full of cute little shops and restaurants and very popular especially in the summer months.
There is fishing , boating and  numerous other recreational activities as well.

Love this example of some of the jewelery they have made!  I may be making some pillows and hubby may be contributing a little of his woodworking.  I have a sister in-law who makes lovely quilts and they have other area artists who are contributing as well.

They are calling their store Soul Sisters and hopefully they will have their web site up and running soon.
I am thinking you may be able to order some pieces if you are interested.   The pottery is really quite amazing!

May 1st was my daughter Katie's 21st birthday!  We celebrated with a small party at home and I think she may have done a little too much celebrating out with her friends!  Oh to be 21 again!

This past week-end my hubby and I spend a day in Milwaukee visiting my brother Michael.  Mike is the father of five, a sonographer at a local hospital and on the side a very talented musician!  Here he is pictured with his band, Gritty Git Down.
Michael is the guy wearing the black shirt.

His band is coming up to play for a wedding most of my family will be attending this weekend.
Somehow I have gotten myself roped into decorating all of the tables.   So I will be very busy over the next few days getting things pulled together.
We have had a cold, wet spring and I sure have been down about our weather.  Forecast is for it to warm up a bit over the next few days.  I will be so thrilled if that happens.  Today we only got up to 48 degrees!
It felt like March instead of May.
Our average should be about 68 right now.  The farmers can't get into their fields and nothing is really blooming yet except for daffodils and a few petunias.
But I guess it could be worse.  I feel so bad for the people affected by the horrible storms down south.
I know that some of you have had family members affected and my heart and prayers go out to them.
Well that's about it for me....

Have a wonderful week everyone!
Cindy

  12. Happy Birthday to your DD, Cindy, and you sure have a gorgeous family... all of you. Not one runt in the litter. :-)

Your sister's pottery and jewelry are neat, and I love the fact that your brother plays the mandolin. I taught myself to play the dulcimer, but you sure don't want to hear me play it. LOL!

Checking in for a minute because I can't sit very long right now. I'm feeling better, but I don't want to push the envelope.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  15. It's hard to blog when your so stinkin' busy with life. I just asked Hubs how I kept up with bloggin' last Spring and Summer when he reminded me I was to sick with those shingles that wouldn't move outta my body.

I'm havin' difficulty keepin' up with life right now and the blog. I'm not sure how others do it.

I hope your beautiful girl had the best birthday. My Grandma Dow was a May Day gal too. What an extraordinary woman she was.

That little Addison has stolen my heart!

God bless ya sweetie and have a super~great day! :o)

  18. Hi Cindy...

Ohh my gosh, I still can't get over how much you and Susie look alike! Such pretty ladies you both are! Wow...how exciting...to be able to open a shop! I would love to do something like that but just don't have the energy it would require. I sure do wish your sister and her friend the very best in all of their endeavours! I love the pottery...sooo pretty! I really do hope that they are able to do something online...would be fabulous! Yes...yes...YES! I think you should do up some of your pretty pillows and that Dan should do a few projects for the new shop as well! I know they would go over BIG TIME!!!

What a darling photo of Katie and Addison! I love it! Ohhh my...it's so hard to believe that she is 21! Ahhh...to be 21 again! I was just thinking that I had two children by that age so I really don't remember getting to go out and do the "21 thing"! Hehe!

So glad that you and Dan were able to get away for the weekend! What fun it would be...to get to go and hear your brother's band! I just love doing that! A relaxing evening out with a great band! Sounds like you are going to be busier than ever with planning the tables for the wedding! But...I know that you will do a fabulous job!!! Have lots of fun, dear friend! Not to much going on here today. Still trying to get bedding washed up after Jenni and the kids have left. I'm sooo slow! I'm really excited though...Gloria and Len are flying out to spend a week with us the first part of June! Of course, there are a few car shows on the agenda! Hehe! And you know what that means...while the guys are doing the car thing...Gloria and I can shop...or just visit! Well sweet friend, you take care and don't work too hard! Just wanted to come by to say hello and see how you are doing! Give Dan a big ol' hug from me! Love you guys!!!

  24. How nice for them to open their shop. Just love the pieces they will sell.
I don't know if it's the same being 21 now that it used to be. Seems they have a much harder way to grow up nowadays. But just the feeling is nice, lol.
Hope you have a nice day.
    Love Elzie

  26. Cindy, how exciting! I've always thought your husband should have a place to sell some of his creations, and your pillows will be wonderful additions to the store too. You are a family full of talent! I bet you'll think of all kinds of things you can make to see in the store in addition to pillows. This will be such a fun adventure for all of you. Wish I could visit the store. Belated happy birthday to Katie. Oh how I remember the days of being 21! You are the perfect person to do the tables for the wedding. I know they'll be fabulous. I can't wait to see them. laurie
