Lilac Festival at my House!

Happy Memorial Day to all!
The time is short but oh so sweet and I look forward to when my lilacs are in bloom every year!
It reminds me of when I was a little girl and my Mom would fill our home with the scent of sweet  lilacs . The scent of lilacs takes me back to a simpler time.  I hope my own children will remember that our home smelled oh so good and was overflowing with beautiful lilacs.

For some reason, we have a bumper crop of lilacs this spring!  They came late but are oh so worth the wait!

I am out picking them by the armfuls!  We are supposed to be close to 90 degrees today and that means my lilacs will fade quickly!   We can go from winter to summer so quickly around here!

I've even taught little Addison how to sniff the lilacs!  She of course would prefer to eat them, but she is getting the sniffing thing down pretty quickly!

My Martha Stewart lilac china!  Purchased at K-Mart about 3 years ago..... just$16/for a 20 piece set!  If they had more I would have grabbed them!

My pitcher is overflowing with lilacs and lily of the valley!  OOH, it smells so good!  The lily of the valley has such a pretty fragrance.
My bunny cost a buck at a thrift shop and the luncheon cloth was about $2... also purchased at a thrift shop.

Napkins tied with polka-dot ribbon!

This shot is a little too light but my lighting just wasn't that good this morning.

A little darker here.  The goblets are from the dollar tree.

My living room is bursting with lilacs too!   On this table.....

And over here.....

They make me happy they make me smile and they're free!

A little bouquet for the coffee table.
And I still have more empty vases to fill!
Here's wishing you all a very happy week ahead!

Cindy

  8. I love lilacs too, Cindy- They are my favorite flower- with roses and peonies a close 2nd. My own are not in full bloom yet-but they are getting close. I have always brought them into the house too...they smell Heavenly.

I suppose you know this but being the worry-wart Nana I am -you do know that Lily-Of-The-Valley is poisonious to children? We often get a call this time of year on the Ask-A-Nurse-Line about it.

Hope your Tuesday is wonderful! xxoo Diana

  14. Hi Cindy!
Oh how I love lilacs. Ours were late this year, also -- and not abundant. Gone too quickly, but while they were here it smelled heavenly!

I think our winter got the best of them. A poor showing, darn it.
I didn't even have the heart to bring any inside.

Yours are gorgeous! I can't believe the abundance; SO jealous!
    :-)

Beautiful table, beautiful armloads of glorious flowers.
    Lucky lady!

  19. I can almost smell those beautiful lilacs here in my studio! I've only experienced that fragrant scent for a very short time...when I lived in PA. My friend always hosted garden teas in her lilac-surrounded backyard. It was heavenly...

  20. Oh, Cindy, if I didn't love you so I'd be jealous! Look at all your lilacs - they're are so beautiful! Wish we had some around here - maybe it's because it's too hot? Anyway, enjoy them and I can see that little Addison sniiffing the blooms.

  36. From apple blossoms to lilacs, you just may have to change the name of your blog to Aromatherapy Cottage.

You'll soon have to start teaching Miss Addison how to blow, doesn't she have an important birthday in about three or four months?

Hugs sweet friend, I'm soaking in those lilac pics.
