Today, it's all about the girl! On Friday, May 1st, my daughter Katie Rose turns 19! Now, I am a little teary eyed and a little bewildered about where all the time went. ( the music is Martina McBride)

My May Day baby will probably want to do a little dance around the Maypole.
She will collect a few May Day baskets!
And be the Queen of her May Day Party!
But first she can sit with her Mom for awhile.
And eat some Birthday Cake!
And of course, a rose for my sweet Katie Rose!
We will sit in the morning sun....
With our May Day Baskets,....
And have a little Birthday Brunch for two!
One day I looked up and she went from this...Age 5 months...
To this? Age 2....
This? Age 3
Age 4, her first year on skates......
Now, my lovely daughter all grown up......
Looking thoughtful and ...
Ready to go out in the world......

ReplyDeleteHave you put your hankie down yet? Well, I haven't, sniff, sniff...Why didn't we believe our elders when they told us kids grow up fast? I guess we just couldn't see beyond the Gerber baby food and the dirty diapers (that seemed like it would never end). ;-D
I do want to say Happy Birthday to Katy Rose, a real American Beauty! There must be something about our generation that we have such stunning daughters! I love all the pics of her but especially the outdoor ones. And I love the brunch table and her bithday celebration table. Wow, May Day, I bet you had some fun birthday parties based on that theme!
So, you know my girls are 18 and 21 and it is so hard to let them fly out from under our wings, but it is my hope that you and I both have been friends to these girls as well as mothers and hopefully they will always come back to us for that warmth and comfort.

reading with tears in my eyes...know how you feel my daughter turned 20 in Feb. son 25 in Dec. and he got married last weekend...my babies just can't be that age...I'm only 30 LOL

ReplyDeleteYour Katie Rose is a stunner; you must be very proud of her. It is so bittersweet to watch them grow. I swing between being so proud of my girls, and then wanting them to be little and buzzing around the house in their footie pajamas!
My own Alida Rose is now 23, and my Anne will be 22 in July. Alida's in grad school in California, and that's a very long way away from New Jersey!

Just have to let you know that I showed Russell some of your building projects this morning while he was sitting at the computer with me. Showed him your honey's garage door remodel...I just love it! Russell was really impressed...said that he could see that it was a project that would take alot of talent and time!!! Kudos to your honey! Well...you see, I had an alterior motive...was hoping to show my honey...all of your honey's projects and some of the beautiful furniture that he has made you! While Russell loved the projects, I don't think it motivated him to build me anything...boohoo!!! Hehe!!! A Girl has to try though...wink!
