Addison is improving!

I want to thank-you, thank-you, thank-you all from the bottom of my heart for all the prayer's and well wishes sent our way.
Addison is improving.  It has been a scary week but yesterday she showed signs of getting better.
Less trouble breathing and her temp has been going down and not spiking quite so much.
We have been back and forth to the hospital 5 times.  They have her on an inhaler and predisone plus the usual Tylenol etc.  No antibiotics since it's a virus however they have done a couple of chest x-rays to make sure pneumonia was not setting in.
And now of course her Mommy is sick too.  Not as bad of course, more like a really bad cold for my daughter.  I have learned a couple of things though.  If any of you have infants and they are showing signs of a cold don't let your Dr. give them their shots.  Wait until the cold is gone.  Addison's Dr. thought her runny nose and cough was just from teething.  He now states that the shot's plus the RSV just overwhelmed her immune system.   You would think Dr.'s would know better and have the babies wait until they were totally healthy for shots.  The shots they get today are just loaded with so many different things.  I think Addison had like a total of 4 different shots last Tuesday.
Again I want to thank-you all for the prayers!
You are the most caring community of friends!
And I will be around to visit each and every one of you sometime this next week.
Hugs to you all,
Cindy

  27. I am so sorry that Addison and all of you, had to suffer through this! I am glad to hear that she is on the road to recovery. Having a sick baby is so scary. My daughter will not let them give multiple shots any longer...she spaces them out. God bless- Diana

  28. Cindy, thank God everyone is healing. So frightening. One thing... I have a 7-year old and a 3-year old grandchildren. Their pediatrician is not allowing them to have Tylenol anymore. Supposedly it is the leading cause of liver problems in babies. When our grandchildren are sick they get Motrin. Just wanted to let you know. Like everything else, things change. That's why I rarely interfere with my son and his wife's "doctoring".
With all the sickness I know Easter is going to been even more welcomed.

  29. Cindy that is wonderful news. We will continue to keep you all in prayer. What a difficult time this has been for all of you. I often wonder why they give so many shots at the same time. I'd rather go back more often for single shots than overwhelm my childs immune system like that! Hugs to all of you!

  30. Well my goodness. You would think they would know - wouldn't you? Sometimes it is the simplest things that can be so BAD.
Sounds like everyone is getting better each day. Prayers continuing.
What a scary thing for you to have to experience. Katie too! Poor thing. Boy! Now she has a good idea of what Moms go through - worrying over their kids!
Deep breath - have a cup of tea, and today will be even better.
Big hugs my friend. I wish you were closer...

  31. Cindy, answering your question about if Tlaquepaque is a colonia city. It is actually within a colonial city... Guadalajara. It is a "suburbu" of G. It is wonderful! If you ever have the urge to go there, please contact me and I'll give you some tips. I believe I said in my post that we have stayed there about 20 times. That does not include the times we've been to Guadalajara... I used to live there.
Take care and I hope you sick ones are well on the mend!

  37. Oh Cindy, I have been so out of the loop lately. I didn't know anything about Addison being sick! I'm so glad that she is doing better. How scary this must have been for all of you. laurie

  38. Cindy, I just read your post and I have known since age 18 that babies cannot have their shots if there is even a sign of a runny nose! They are not supposed to "assume" anything when it comes to those shots.
I blame the doctor!!! Addison should have NEVER been given those shots. You have the right to be really angry...
After having seven children, all having their DPT's, I have had to wait on a couple of occassions for the very slight sniffles to pass before those shots were given. I had forgotten all about it until this happened!
I am so happy to hear there is improvement.

(and I don't think I am being too harsh on that doctor!!)
    Hugs and love,
    Mona

  41. Oh, Cindy! I've been in and out of Blogland the last few days and didn't realize little Addison was going through this! I'm so sorry but so thankful to know she's better! Bless you all and thank you for telling about a cold and shots! I'm going to tell my daughter too. You would think the doctor especially would know better. Did he even apologize for all he's put that little darling through? I'm praying know she and your daughter will be all well soon.

  42. I'm sorry that I'm just finding out about this...and I am so glad she is getting better. Watching both of your babies sick must be so hard! I hate those infant shots. My daughter had a bad reaction when she was a baby and I've never forgotten it.

I can't believe you had snow! Of course it was so warm at midnight last night that we went to bed with our window open, and 77 degrees. We got up and it was 38 degrees and a bit brisk in the bedroom! Such is the Midwest.

  45. Thank God Your sweet ones are doing well. This happens so often and many Mothers who are looking to raise their children in a more natural manner are choosing not to have their children get shots. It is very common in this area as the Amish do not have their children get shots. It is so hard on the immune system. I'm glad that all is much better.

  47. I am so sorry that Addison had to go through this. I'm praying that she continues to improve!
I have a confession to make. My twins didn't get any shots until they were 5. First, they were preemies so they wouldn't give them shots. Then we decided to wait. We didn't plan to wait that long, but when I did finally take them in to get them, they only had to have 6 shots over a period of multiple visits. Apparently, if they are a bit older, quite a few of the shots are eliminated, and others are only given once, not in a series. I never knew that before.
They will need a booster for one when they are 12.

I'm not one to say not to get vaccines, all of my kids were vaccinated, but I was surprised at how many of them are broken up to 5 shots each, because they start them so young.
Sorry this was so long :-)

    Have a wonderful Easter!!
    Blessings,
    Marcia

  49. Oh Cindy, I just saw this and I'm praying for you all!!! I agree we have to do a little common sense of our own these days with the Doctors and shots and medications! I have my own stories to tell about that!
