Favorite Cupboard Party with Sheila!

I am joining the lovely Sheila (Note Songs) for her Heart of the HomeFavorite Cupboard party.
Be sure the check out her lovely blog and the other participants that are joining her today.

My favorite cupboard is actually an armoire.  And it's a very special armoire because it was designed and built by my talented hubby! If you would like to read more about that you can by clicking here.
At over 7 ft. tall it's a towering piece for this little nook right off of our kitchen.  Dan added lot's of shelves for my overflow dishes, decor and other miscellaneous items. I wanted a cottage look and the appearance of wainscoting and hubby delivered!

A little closer look at the finish he used for the front.

My other favorite cupboard is this old pie hutch.  I think I bought it like 30 years ago and only paid maybe $100 for it.  It's not perfect but it's charming and I have certainly gotten my money's worth.
If you look closely, you can see the litle holes on the side's of the hutch that were used way back in the olden days for cooling pies.

It serves to hold my china and glassware.  Every now and then I pull everything out and re-arrange.
I am way over-due for re-arranging but I think I have a very good little 17 lb. reason.

Little Addison turned 6 months old yesterday and I have been very busy helping her Mommy.
I am now a full time babysitting Grandma!
I might not have as clean of a home as before BA (before Addison) but I certainly have more joy!

Thanks for coming by and thanks to our lovely hostess Sheila!
Have a great week everyone and I just have to let you know that I am so envious of all you who have full blown spring.  I am wondering if our's will ever arrive!
Cindy

  21. Baby comes first! She is just darling and gets cuter and cuter! :) So...can I borrow her? Mine are all grown up... The really little Great Grands are not close by...and that makes me sad. Not sure I am up to babysitting anymore. Now it is up to the Grandma's and Granpa's..which are MY CHILDREN! ARGGGGG!

I love the soft crackle finish your husband used on the cabinet. So county.
What I noticed right away was the your hutch is papered in the back...and I want mine like that...and soon! VERY soon!

Like you, I pull my things out and rearrange them...Easter? Nothing happening yet!
    Love and hugs,
    Mona

  23. Both of these cabinets are absolutely beautiful Cindy!!

I have probably already told you, I was a full time babysitting G'ma for Xanti. We forged a bond during her first year, until they moved. We are still extremely close and I believe that first year was a very important time for both of us. As always I so enjoy seeing Addison. Just simply joyful!

  24. Hi Cindy! I'm new to your blog, visiting from Miss Shelia's party. I was probably hooked first by the name of your blog. Love that & the story behind the name. I have one of those talented hubbies, too, who can do just about anything, and I do test the limits on occasion. LOL!!! The pie safe is gorgeous & the toile on the back wall is so perfect. You guessed it, I'm a new follower & would love it if you checked out my blog & maybe followed back. Have a great day!

  25. Cindy, I love both cabinets, but you know I think that one that your DH built is super special! Your cabinets are neat as a pin. What mess in your house? I don't see it!

Love that Addison, and she gets cuter every day. I wish I could see her in person and hear what I know must be an adorable laugh to match that smile.

Hope you are well. I've been up to my eyeballs in tree trunks. We had a storm that brought down two HUGE oaks from my neihbor's yard into ours, and since it was an act of God, we are paying for it. Our trees went into his yard last year, and I paid to remove them... but he paid for the fence damage and damage to his house (minor). So we are good. I thank the Lord that He let that tree fall where it did and not on my house. It came within five feet, Cindy, five feet! God is good.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  26. I love both cabinets!! I think Dan is truly talented and you are so lucky to have someone who loves you so much as to build you a little housing for your dishes!!

Addison is just looking SO cute...is that a little raincoat? Darling. I hope you are taking care...you have turned into a full time Grammy! Are you still working? That was very taxing, too.

Enjoy the good weather that's on the way!

    XO,
    Jane

I don't know how you do the full time babysitting thing. Of course ours are boys...and they move, run, open doors and neglect to sleep. I'm exhausted after just a weekend with them!
