It's a Party! Met. Monday, Let There Be White, Blue Monday and my Birthday!

It's a Party!!! Tomorrow is my birthday and in celebration I am doing a triple! Please visit these ladies wonderful blogs! Susan for Met Monday.
Sally for Blue Monday.

And on Tuesday, Kathleen for Let There Be White Part II.

The old dining room table had been needing a new look for a long time. I was wishing for a new one but then I had an idea! Maybe with some paint we could give this table and chairs a whole new look! Luckily, I have a hubby who loves to paint because each chair took about 3 hours to complete. He primed them first and then painted them a cottage white.

The before: Brown and boring and although I liked it once upon a time, it needed a face lift.

And the after! Amazing what paint will do! I am so happy with the new and improved old table and chairs. I am also participating in Let There be White with one color at Cuisine Kathleen's.

For my centerpiece, I am using a tea-pot with one blue hydrangea (real). The tea-pot was purchased for $1 at an auction and the little plate was a GW find. I am using a little white crocheted doily that belonged to my Grandma.

A candlestick that I had previously spray painted. (it was brass) Little target birdies and some votives finish out the look.

I've had these place mats for ever and ever. The plates are Myott Finlandia purchased from a garage sale and E-bay. The vintage silverware was a $1 a bag purchase at an Estate Sale. OOPS, forgot the salad forks! The napkins I love and they are paper to boot! I purchased these at TJ Maxx, and I think they work well with this china.

An early morning view with the sun shining in.

More sun, more viewing. LOL!

I love the look of my new/ old dining room table and chairs! Thanks honey!

Light the candles for a more romantic meal.

Thank-you for visiting my triple post! I have some celebrating to do! Happy Monday. Cindy

  39. Oh Cindy - First of all, Hope you have a happy birthday! Next, congratulations on winning the book from BNOTP! Thirdly, I have wanted to paint my hand-me-down dining room table, chairs & china cabinet/hutch that came from my grandparents (via my brother, who got it from them first!) It's a bit rickety, so it needs to be taken apart & reglued (at least the chairs do!) It's an old mahogany Duncan Phyfe set that has seen better days. I'm just not sure where to start, as I've never done anything like this before! Any tips will be greatly appreciated! (will I have to strip it before I prime it or can I just go straight to the priming step?) Oh well! Anyway, have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day!

  44. Hello sweet friend...

Ohhhh Cindy...I just love the look of your table and chairs in white!!! They are sooo pretty...what a change! You know, I really like my white table and chairs and it's the first time I've had white like this...but I'm finding that so many of my tablescapes really look good against the white! Sheeeshh...that sounded a bit bragadocious...but you know what I mean! Hehe! I think you'll like it and I just love your chairs...I have always loved that style...so pretty!!!

Now...for this fabulous white tablescape!!! What is it about blue and white? You know I have never done a blue and white theme...but this color combination just has a special ambiance all of its own!!! It's charming, it's quaint, it's so frenchy!!! Love it!!! Girl, I love those pretty blue and white toile placemats...they're gorgeous! I want them! Hehe!!! Ohhh...and I love the blue and white damask with the pattern of your finnish dishes...it's a beautiful pattern combination!!! Hehe..if you hadn't told me they were paper...I would have never guessed! I know that I've told you before...but I just love your finnish dishes!!! Girl, I remember when you got them...and what a great deal you got!!! I have seen a few of this pattern on ebay and shhheeeshh...they're expensive!!! You got yourself a really nice and expensive set for such a great price!!!

Is the pretty blue hydrangea from your garden? It's so pretty, Cindy...and it's perfect for the centerpiece!!! Girlfriend, I just love the whole look...and I think it's really showcased by your new white table and chairs!!!

Well Darlin'...what are you up to this week? I'm just trying to keep my head above water...haven't felt real good lately! We had a really busy weekend...had the kids here and did a bunch of running...guess that's what did it! Have a terrific day...

    and....

Hehe...you didn't think that I would forget your birthday...did you? Hehe! I know I'm a day early but I'm sending you my very best birthday wishes and blessings, Sweetie!!! Dear, sweet Girl...you deserve them!!! Happy...Happy Birthday!!! May you have the best birthday ever and I pray that all of your hopes and dreams are realized in this new birthday year!!!
