Do I ever have a bad CASE of Spring Fever! We had temperature's in the upper 40's and low 50's last week. The snow was melting and I could actually see the pavement on the back-roads again.
Well Old Man Winter blew in again last night.. it's been nasty! I think we have at least a foot or more of new snow. I am starting to have daytime and nighttime dreams about spring. So I hope you won't mind a little peak into some of last year's pics. All were taken around Applestone Cottage or nearby.
Nothing makes my heart sing like apple blossoms in bloom!
And the rich green of our yard! I even love dandelions when they first appear! Not so much later on.
And when the lilacs come into bloom, I am one happy camper! I cut and cut and fill and fill our home with their lovely fragrance.
More beauty to take in....
It's been a trying week at our home. My hubby is a teacher in his 30th year.
My sister is a teacher, my hubby's sister is also a teacher and my son is as well.
I have no intentions to make my blog political. But it's been a trying week for our family here in Wisconsin.
My hubby, along with his sister and I traveled to Madison on Saturday.
Just let me say it was a day we will never forget!
A Prayer in Spring
Robert Frost (1915)
Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.
For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.
Have a great week everyone!
Cindy
I am joining Marty @ A stroll thru life for Tabletop Tuesday.
And Susan for Outdoor Wednesday.
Old man winter was just napping last week - - - Miss Spring CAN'T come until March - - - all that warm and thawing last week was just a big fooler. I KNOW you've lived in these here parts long enough to know that we OFTEN get heavy snows even in March - - - -
ReplyDeleteGet out your snow shoes, girl!!!
;-)
I am ready for spring too. Believe it or not, we are still having cold weather. My yard is a mess. This has been the worst winter we have ever seen here in AZ.
ReplyDeleteCindy,
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the midwest and moved to South Texas w/my family when I was 15 (many years ago!). I still miss the Lilacs and Peonies. The photos are beautiful.I'd love for you to drop by my blog when you have the chance. I'm a "newbie"& would appreciate any feedback.
Thinking of you and your family...we have many teachers in our immediate family as well.
OH my!!! Those geraniums just make me LONG for spring & some warm weather....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics... & sorry about the "Wisconsin trouble" Been watching on the news...
Oh MY again... Here's hoping for a good outcome.
Such beautiful pictures!!! I can't wait for Spring to make a glorious appearance!!
ReplyDeleteDidn't realize your DH was a teacher. I retired in 2005 although I'm still working in education by supervising student teachers. I think I remember hearing something on the news about Wisconsin governor wanting to make cuts in pay or fighting with unions or something. I really try not to listen to the news too much...too depressing. Hope it works out well. The pics are beautiful. It has been in the 70's here in south GA the last few days...can't believe it!
ReplyDeleteWe got to 50, and then it snowed the next day.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who never got away, it has been a long winter!
What yummy eye candy you've treated us to today Cindy! We don't have any snow here in Virginia (yet!) but may get a little over the next day or so. I am so ready for spring as well. I noticed this weekend that my crocus are starting to poke their heads up outta the ground. Hopefully spring will be here soon! I've been following the news regarding the union situation in y'alls area. I am hoping and praying for the best for all concerned. So much uncertainty in the world today. It makes me sad and worried for everyone's future. I hope the rest of your week is good!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Donna
Thanks for sharing the pictures - I am ready for Spring. Even tho the temps are decent here right now, we have been known to have snow into mid March.
ReplyDeleteSure hope it is all worked out for the best.
I've been thinking about you when I hear the news..hope all goes well for you family members...I have had spring fever too...and we have been having great spring weather...it cooled down today...but we should be in the 60's tomorrow...we've been in the 70's...great photos
ReplyDeleteOh to have lilacs like those. My dream is to plant a couple of lilac tree in my backyard. I adore your hand painted rose lamp. Really precious!
ReplyDeleteDeanna :D
You bet I have that fever, BAD in fact! Oh I can't wait to get out there again.
ReplyDeleteCindy, I'm ready for spring. Spotted my first daffodil bloom in the garden today. So I have hope! ;-)

ReplyDeleteHi Cindy! Your lilacs are just incredible! No wonder you can't wait for them! :) Glad to hear you were home in time for the blizzard... these sure are interesting times we are living in.
ReplyDelete~Liz
Hi Cindy- Same weather here as you have. Nasty stuff that!!! Many of my good friends are teachers and they are in Madison as well. I understand~ Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteI love love winter so I wasn't feeling your pain until the pictures of lilacs! I'm planning on making lilac oil this spring so it will be a nice way to not miss cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteYour post is making me wish for Spring, Cindy. I love your lamp!!
ReplyDeleteI heard from my friend in Appleton, about the "new" snow! Wow! When we went to the doctor in St Louis, today, we noticed the Missouri River is really high. The Mississippi at Grafton IL just a few miles from us, is at flood stage. I can't imagine what it will be like after the snow melts this year. Reminds us of 1993...and the very famous flood.
HI!!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw on the news all the SNOW you got!!!!!
WOW
it is cold here again too!!!
BOY we got wind and rain!!!And cool temps all week, under 70 all week!!!
Rain coming again too!!!
spring will be here soon!!!!I hope for you anyway!!
hugs,
jamie
I appreciate that you don't want to be political, but I'm proud of what the dems are doing!! People forget what it was like before unions...not pretty. I doubt if anyone really wants to go back to that if they actually think about it!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Cindy. I love Lilacs, too! I love the fragrance in the breeze. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGirl I can just feel my temperature a'risin' just lookin' at these beautifully warm and wonderful pictures. I can see the itty~bitty buds pushin' through the branches but it's still far to cold for them to branch out!
ReplyDeleteGod bless and enjoy your day sweetie!!!
Oh Cindy, all of these flowers are just stunning. I sure wish we could grow some of them here. Gorgeous pictures. Hopefully spring will get here soon. Thanks for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteIt will be 72 here today! Spring is right around the corner for us in the South.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you with all the snow.
Your pictures are absolutely beautiful. I know you will really enjoy the trees when Spring arrives for you.
Yep,spring fever is here to. this latest bout of bad weather did me in. I hear ya to about whats going on in Wisconsin right now. All I'll say is that I've always leaned to the Republican side but this has me RUNNING to the other side.
ReplyDeleteNow you have got me hoping for Spring..and for us, I think it's a ways off yet..but I am hoping! ;D
ReplyDeleteYour photos are gorgeous, Cindy. They give me spring fever too...Christine
ReplyDeleteI remember some of these flowers and pics from before, you have that lamp that is so much like my mom's. I think I commented on that then.
ReplyDeleteI hope that everything in WI will be coming up roses soon.
Hugs
Oh my goodness, you've been hit hard with snow this winter, haven't you? Your photos are beautiful though. We don't get Spring in full bloom like that around here.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
Hi! In my trips through Blogland recently, I haven't been finding you...so I came looking tonight. I've thought about you with all of the "stuff" on television. I'm sure that "trying" is putting it mildly. It has been hard to imagine such things going on and I'm sure it must have been really something you never thought you'd see.
ReplyDeleteAs for spring...last week had me dreaming. We almost hit 70 degrees, and while we haven't gotten any more snow yet-Thursday is supposed to have thunder storms and then snow. Your photos make me dream of green grass and lilacs.
I thougt it was on it's way too, almonds are blooming, the grass is green from all the rain. Now they're talking about a cold weekend with the possibility of snow at sea level in the bay area. Wow!
ReplyDeleteCindy, let me first say that I'm so sorry about the problems you are experiencing in your state. I know it must be a trying time for everyone. The photos and poem you posted are beautiful! I know we'll get spring before you do, but I am SO ready! laurie
ReplyDeleteHi dear friend...
ReplyDeleteOhhh my...I have spring fever too! I'm tellin' ya...Applestone Cottage in the springtime just makes me yearn for spring even more, sweet friend! Your place is absolutely gorgeous...everything is so lush and green! Ohh yes...and all those apple trees when they are in bloom...just gorgeous! You know, I'm not sure if an apple blossom has any scent or not? I can't recall. Do they smell good? Ohhh..and I know the lilacs smell sweet! They are still my favorite flower! You really did have some gorgeous blossoms last year, my friend and you make some really beautiful arrangements with them! Looking through your photos...just makes me sigh! We have had similar weather here as well. Last week we had beautiful spring-like temps and then we were hit last night by old man winter...once again! I had the wood stove going full force all day today. Hmmm...surely spring can't be too far away!
Well dear friend, I know that you have been so busy! Between your work, and taking care of Addison...and now with all thats going on in Wisconsin! It's all just so scary, isn't it? It seems that the longer time goes on...the more insecure we feel about our futures! I'm praying for ya'll, dear friend! Hang in there...everything will surely work out!!!
Love ya,
Chari
Oh, Cindy...those beautiful photos make me long for Spring even more! Here I sit in my living room, looking out my window at the gray skies, and dull brown, bare tree branches. So lifeless and dare I say - ugly. I can't wait for leaves on trees, blooms on bushes, flowers, and blue skies!
ReplyDeleteLove your flowering crabs, and your tulips and lilacs! I have spring fever too, Cindy, and it helped to stop by here to view some lovely spring photos. Snow is pretty too, but enough already! lol
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Beth
Hi Cindy, beautiful spring pics! Love those lilacs! I've been catching up a little and enjoyed your anniversary/wedding post - sweet! Linda (p.s. It's supposed to be 77 degrees here tomorrow! Yikes!) Linda
ReplyDeleteBeautiful spring pics, Cindy! And I love that lamp! Your lilacs are so pretty! Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteI'm more than ready for SPRING. Your pics are lovely and makes me want SPRING even more. Last week it also was warm here, but now it is cold again and has been so windy. WE have something to look forward too..... Here it will be late March before it warms up. Happpy Spring to you!!
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower Cindy...I love all your beautiful pics. Oh my...the pink tree reminds me of 2 we had in our home of the 80's and part of the 90's we lived in. It's stunning! Love the lamp and the lillies. All the blessings for your state and may God help you everyday.
ReplyDeleteHope you visit too, I'll be delighted.
XOXO
