I'm Back!!! (kind of)
Boy did I ever get way laid! A week ago, after a night filled with unrelenting pain, my Mom took me up to the hospital emergency room. They ran tests, did ultrasounds, a cat scan and administered morphine. It seems I had two or more gall stones stuck in the viaduct that leads out of my gall bladder. Things were backing up, my temp was climbing and my white blood count was as well.
They admitted me into the hospital and started giving me large quantities of antibiotics and shots of Demerol.
They were hoping to get things settled down and then maybe do the surgery in a week of two. Well, things didn't settle down and on Saturday morning they operated. My surgeon was fabulous!! Even though he didn't think he would be able to get my gall bladder out using the laprascopic method, he was somehow able to , and I am so grateful! I was told by several nurse's and attending Dr.'s that my gall bladder was the most awful, nasty swollen looking one they had ever seen. Not something to brag about. However, it's gone, and I came home Monday afternoon.
Yesterday, I went back to my surgeon and he removed a drainage pump that was taking out extra fluid. Because, even though I hadn't ate for nearly 4 days, I gained 11 lbs the day after the surgery from all the fluid they used to clean me out with. I told them I didn't care for their diet. hehe. Now, hopefully I can get back to blogging and visiting with my fellow bloggerettes! Oh, and I picked these pics today, just because they make me happy!! And Happy Thursday everyone! I will get around to visiting you as soon as I can.

HI CINDY!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you even worry about us, we are here waiting for you when you feel better, you poor thing, that must have been so painful. How far away is the hospital????I hope not to far to have to ride in that kind of pain.
Glad they got the gall bladder out and no cutting. Now you just need to rest and recover 100% and that may take a month so do not be in any real hurry.
Enjoy the sick time at home, and It is spring, what better time to be off!!!!

Oh Cindy..... That's one scary story. I'm so happy to hear you're on the other side of the nasty gall bladder now. Sounds horrible. I had mine out too...I had HORRIBLE pain in my right shoulder. It seems that's a typical sign for a gall bladder gone amuck.

Cindy, I am so glad you are better now. What a horrific experiene! It's a blessing they could do it using laproscopy (sp?) because the other method makes for a VERY long recuperation. Take care and don't rush things. Blessings to you. Linda

ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness Cindy, I had no idea! I'm so glad they were able to do it with the laproscope. Mine had to be removed long before laproscope days, and I have a huge scar. I will tell you that I had suffered for months before finally being rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery on a Sunday. After I had it out, I felt SO much better! I was very lucky to not have to change my diet after they removed it. I sure hope you have the same results with yours. Love ya, laurie
ReplyDeleteCindy it's great to hear from you again. What a terrible ordeal it must have been for you. I'm so glad you are feeling better and they were able to do the laprascopic surgery. A friend of mine had that same surgery and the recovery time was much quicker. Blessings to you my friend!

ReplyDeleteI just read you latest post and found out. You blink an eye in blogland and you miss SO much.
I had my gall bladder out also in an emergency situation, about four years ago. It was an amazing experience with NO scaring. And then the colon thing happened and NO one will ever see my tum again in this lifetime! I was butchered! I am glad they didn't do that to you, Cindy!
Hugs,
Mona
Hope you recover as well as my brother did!! Good luck to you!! Glad you are back!!
