Good-bye Summer

August has been a busy month and it seems I have been unable to get my blogging act together.  But I would like to share with you some bits and pieces from our last month of summer.
The dozen roses and vase a gift from my hubby to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary on the 16th.

Addison and her Grandma celebrating Grandma's b-day on the 24th.

Yesterday we took Addison to an Art's and Music Festival along the beautiful Mississippi river.  Pictured here with her cousin Chloe.  These little girls have such fun together!  Chloe is 3 and Addison will turn 2 next month.
And the highlight of their day were the free pony rides!

Hubby was such a trooper!  He walked with them to make sure Addison stayed put.  Around and around they went together and alone. And did I mention it was 90 degrees here yesterday but it felt cooler thanks to the river breezes.

Addison woke up this morning not quite awake and already she was saying" I want to ride the big one, I want to ride the big one".  There was a really big horse there that most of the bigger kids were riding. And she was bound and determined to ride it and she did!.
But my camera battery died out just when she got on.

Looking ahead and reflecting as well.  Scenes from Autumn 11 at Applestone Cottage.

Thanks for stopping by..I will be around to visit you all soon!

  1. How sweet. In a Facebook group I am part of many of us have our old photos taken on a pony that was brought around to all the neighborhoods for photographs. What a good little business that guy had as kids all over Vancouver in the 1960s had their photos done. We all treasure them.
    Happy Belated Birthday to you.

  2. It was a month of celebration for you then, belated anniversary and birthday greetings.
The pictures of the girls together are just so cute; I love it that they are both wearing dresses and look so pretty. And Grandma is looking rather good in her birthday picture too!

  3. Those girls are just adorable. We have an area here, too, where the kids go to ride the little "walk-around" ponies. Happy Anniversary to you, too! It is supposed to rain on this side of the state today-but we'll see- xo Diana

  4. Oh my gosh, those little girls melt me! Cute as can be!
Your Addison and my Elsie would be two-peas-in-a-pod, running us ragged riding those ponies. ha!

  5. Sounds and looks like an enjoyable time despite the heat. Hard to believe out little ones will be 2 soon.
    Have a great week.

  6. What lovely roses and the pitcher is beautiful. Sweet little ladies too!

  7. Busy month at your place. Addison is growing so fast and Chloe is adorable. How fun for them to be together. Can't wait until you get back out here. Time is getting nearer. Hugs, Marty

  8. Awwww, Cindy, those girls are absolutely adorable. I love that picture of the two of them holding hands. You and Addison both look beautiful in your b'day picture, and hubby sure did great with that beautiful vase and roses. laurie

  9. Happy Birthday sweet friend...awesome photos...looks like everyone was having so much fun...we are in the 100's all week here in Texas...

  10. How sweet are those beautiful gals....I see the little apple doesn't fall far from the lovely tree!

Nope...not sayin' goodbye to summer yet, we're under a heat advisory. 100 today.

God bless ya sweetie and enjoy your day! :o)

  11. I imagine Dan has returned to school now??

  12. The little ones are just adorable! How fun that they are close in age. I hear you about the temps. We are going to have a "heat wave" this weekend. Probably mid 80s which is hot for us. Fall is coming. Our leaves are starting to turn red and I decorated my mantel. A bit premature but I am so ready for fall.

  13. You don't look old enough to have Grandkids. I started visiting when my daughter decided to go to college in WI. You mentioned an Art's and Music Festival along the beautiful Mississippi river. Would you know the name of that festival. My husband plays bluegrass, Aloha Raliegh

  14. Oh Cindy, I am afraid that i am further behind in blogging than you! Since I went private, everything has changed, my blog is now just a family journal now.
