Spring Time in Wisconsin, A Metamorphosis.

Traveling along the roads and byways of Western Wisconsin.  We live in the unglaciated part of Wisconsin.  Picture rolling hills, Holstein cows, (lot's of them)  bluffs and the Mississippi River.  Dan and I took a little drive yesterday. It was so nice not to be in a hospital bed or stuck at home.    Spring is springing here and it's my favorite time of year!

We drove along the bluffs, near the Mississippi River.

Had a bite to eat at a charming little restaurant that overlooks the river.

Things are greening up so nicely. We haven't peeked yet, but the process of getting there is the most amazing part.

This part of Wisconsin is heavily Scandinavian.  My hubby is 100% Norwegian ethnicity.  The Norwegians thought Western Wisconsin reminded them of Norway with its rolling hills and hence many of them settled here.

Along the Mississippi as the sun begins to set.

A beautiful spring day!
Thanks for coming along.
Hope you all are enjoying beautiful spring weather.
I 'm adding this post to Met. Monday, be sure to visit Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch.

  1. Cindy, so glad you were able to enjoy such a beautiful day with such gorgeous scenery. It's funny, down south we consider the Mississippi River to be very southern....hard to believe it's up there, too! Linda

  2. Beautiful scenery. Happy to hear your recovery is going well enough that you are able to get out, Cindy...this is my favorite time of year, when everything is waking from the long winter's sleep.

  4. This is beautiful Cindy and brings back memories. We took this same road up to La Crosse. We loved the old buildings in La Crosse, too. We've been on the Great River Road for most of the way now. Love to drive along the Mississippi.

  5. SIgh. Golly - the Mississippi River! Pretty much in your back yard. How awesome is that? It's all so pretty! You have so much land around you . . . that is so nice. Not out here. Every inch of inhabitable space in California is occupied! If you see a hill - somebody, somewhere owns it.
This was a beautiful post Cindy. Great shots. And I'm so happy you are up and about!
Now we just have to get Miss Gloria up and about! Good grief - it must be the time of year . . .
Big hugs my friend. And you wait - one of these days your doorbell is going to ring and it'll be me standing there with my five bucks asking "Can I feed the deer?"
    :) Me.

  11. Hi Cindy! Oh, I'm so glad to hear you felt like getting out and taking such a wonderful drive! It's so beautiful where you live. I've never been to your state but would love to some day. Speaking of your hubby being Norwegian, we've been to Oslo three times and the country is so beautiful! We took a tour of the Fjords and was totally amazed at its beauty. Continue to feel better.

  17. Hi Cindy,
I have just recently had the joy of visiting Wisconsin, I live in Manitoba, Canada. We drove through in March and enjoyed the rolling hills and the farms along that highway.
Your photos are beautiful, we weren't in your area, I don't think. I would love to visit that area and the area around the Great Lakes. It is such a pretty state. Thanks for the look. You are greening up at about the same rate as us in Southern Manitoba.

  24. Hi...I just had to comment and say..I had no idea that you had gallbladder surgery..it sounds like it was just awful..I had that in my early 20's (the old kind of surgery) and it was so painful! I'm so glad you are on the mend...stay that way. I thank you for your kindness, I am still so weak but each day will be strength..take care :D

  25. Hi sweet girl...

Just coming by to check on you today! Darlin', I'm soooo glad to hear that you were feeling up to taking a little drive...Oooh, and what a drive it was!!! I know...I just love springtime...everything starting to green up! Your photos are absolutely gorgeous...what a beautiful trip!!! You know, I didn't realize that you were so close to the Mississippi River! I know that where you live...you are pretty elevated, I hope that you don't ever have problems with flooding...do you? Anyway, the photos are gorgeous, Cindy! I think you live in the most beautiful area!!!

Just wanted to let you know that I talked with Gloria last night...she didn't sound good at all! I told her to please...let her Dr. put her in the hospital!!! She was supposed to be calling him this morning and trying to get back in. She said that she would probably go into the hospital! I will try and call again tonight to see if they put her in or not. Just wanted to let you know. I really am worried about her...she sounded really bad on the phone!

Well sweet friend, I am soooo happy to hear that you are feeling better!!! That just makes my day!!! You take care and I'll talk with you later...

    Love ya, Sweetie...
