Outdoor Wednesday/ A Mini Cottage Affair.

My little garden gnome has found a new place to rest.   About a month ago I found the little garden cottage while shopping at Home Goods.  It was still cold, we had snow on the ground but I knew it needed to jump in my cart and come home with me.

I just love my cute little cottage!   A mini version of my home.  I planted pansies and the phlox are coming up quite nicely.  The phlox will be in all their glory around mid- to late July.

This is the time of year when I actually love dandelions.  I know, I won't feel that way for long.  But they just remind me of my childhood and a time when I thought they were the prettiest flower around!

Things are greening up quite nicely around here.  See the rain gage?  Hubby checks that quite religiously.
We do need rain but I am loving our sunny and 70's weather.

The hydrangea ivy is filling in quite nicely.  Later, it will be filled with beautiful white flowers.

It's even wrapping itself around the front porch.  Hubby wants to trim it back  but I'm not so sure.  I kind like the wild look!

A bleeding heart coming along.  Please ignore the weeds!   I am trying to get them but my stitches still hurt a bit. OW!

I love this plant, however I always forget their names.  I save the little markers but they still get misplaced.

Some fun perennials!  Drats!  I tend to forget what I planted last year.

I know this is a catnip type plant that I put in last year.  Lily, our kitty,  is always rolling around on it.

Baby's Breath I believe.

Some chives .  Well that's about it for now.  I will be so excited when the lilacs and apple trees are in bloom.  Won't be long!   Please visit our hostess Susan, for some OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY FUN.   And I am joining Marla, @  Always Nesting for her new blog party called  WOOHOO!  Wednesday . Check it out!

  1. Beautiful. Love the sun on the plants. If it makes you feel any better we have those very same weeds and I didn't just have surgery :) I have no excuse except this darn rain makes them look like giants in about an hour.

Seems like we take one step forward and many backwards in our yard. We've planted only 4 replacements out of the 10 we lost in the freeze. Maybe it's time for fake bushes.

  4. Cindy~I just had minor surgery on my tootsies, so gazing at the great outdoors is my pastime these days. I do love seeing the transformation of winter leaving and spring blooming. I'm looking forward to beautiful colors filling my yard, along with a bounty of fruit.

Hope to see you come by for a visit.
    sweet wishes,
    Sara

  6. Take care of your incision girl, the weeds will wait! OK, promise ya'll won't laugh. I decided this year I would keep the dandelions deadheaded and not let any go to seed. I worked every day and had buckets full of the things, I lost that one and had Hubs bring me some weed and feed but the yard is covered with the dang little fur-balls. I'm keepin' the grandkiddos the last of this week....I'm sure they will seed the yard well for me. Your laughin' aren't ya???

God bless and have a terrific Tuesday!!!

  7. I had to laugh about your dandelion comments. I just posted about dandelions the other day...do you see flowers or do you see weeds? Looks like you are another one who sees flowers!

  8. Hi Cindy....I'm so glad to hear your recovering from your surgery...I missed a couple of posts and had to go back a few to find out why you had stitches...happy to hear they were able to do the less invasive surgery. Sorry though about the amount of pain you had to go through...Hope you will be 100% real soon....Sue.

  10. Cindy, I love your gnome's little cottage! It's the perfect miniature Applestone Cottage. Your husband needs to craft a little sign for the gnome's cottage too. I can't wait to see that climbing hydrangea in bloom. It is going to be gorgeous! Hope you are taking care of yourself and will be back to normal soon. laurie

  11. Things are just poppin up all over at your place!! Those yellow dandelions are edible you know- their not weeds- When I became a beekeeper last year I was told you can tell when the drones will be out by when the dandelions bloom!

  12. What a sweet little Fairy house...I love those. Your home just is the sweetest ever. I want to paint my little set on the front porch red like yours. Can you tell me what color of red that is. It is really so soft.
It's raining and storming outside this week..so maybe next week I can get it done. I think it will really add color to the porch! Yours is just so cute, Cindy!
    Hugs!

  14. That little gnome cottage is adorable. Your plants are really looking lovely. Is that perhaps a plant called "chicks and hens"? I don't know why that popped into my head, my grandmother used to plant them and I think they looked similar to these. Take care of yourself, don't worry about the dandelions. I'm with Cindy, I see pretty yellow flowers! Kathy

  18. Don't you dare pull weeds! Doc told me nothing like that, even vacuuming for at least 2 weeks, and that you are not healed inside for 6 weeks!
Nope, don't like dandy's, I am always killing them!
The unknown looks like sedum coming up..do you remember if it gets flowers? Hard to tell, but mine look like that now..Fun to watch everything emerge, isn't it?
    Take care of yourself!

  20. Hello Cindy!
Long time no stop by!! Spring is really starting to show up around your home. The outdoor areas look like they are ready to burst forth! I imagine your apple orchard is just starting to fill with leaves. My one little apple tree is just getting it's green leaves. I too like how your hydrangea ivy is wrapped across your red shutters. Yay!! Hugs!

  21. You have a very cute gnome and I am sure he loves his new house. Did you hear that in Europe some people steal gnomes from cities and "set them free" in the woods? I kid you not! Tell your little guy to be alert.

  22. Your garden is so charming, its fun to "visit"! Your little gnome made me smile before the picture even finished booting up.
Please ignore the weeds and just take care of yourself, your garden is perfect the way it is right now. You can worry about weeds later.
One thing that helps me keep track of what I plant is a garden section in my home organization binder/dream book- it has a pocket that I stash plant markers in. The other way I keep track is just leave the marker in the pot or spot I planted until the following year when I'm ready to purchase new plants, then stick the marker in the shopping bag and off to the nursery I go.

  29. You have the most beautiful view, CIndy! Love the mini home for the gnome and your garden will look gorgeous in no time. Funny what you said about dandelions. I have a problem pulling out weeds with any flowers. I love them. I even feel like stopping by the side of the road to dig out some wild flowers and I want to plant them around the gazebo....Christine
