Mantle Party/The Winter Look!

I am joining Beth at A to Z for my first Mantel Party.  I just found Beth's blog and have been reading some of her back posts, want interesting stories she has to tell.  Now onto the party!

I will call this my winter look.  And since winter is long in Wisconsin, I need to find something that will be warm and cozy to get me through this long season.  We use our fireplace on a regular basis, it's wood burning and it gives such a nice cozy feel to the room.

If you would like to read about our fireplace facelift, that only cost about $50.00, you can do that by clicking here  I purchased the screen off E-Bay for only $50.00 plus 20.00 shipping.  It's cast iron, nice and fairly heavy and I thought it brightened things up a bit.   Plus I love the cottage look . I like to change my mantle for the seasons, and Christmas of course, but I don't quite have the ambition for a valentine or St. Patty's Day change over.  But who knows, maybe that's in the future, or maybe not.  I am feeling a bit down in the dumps today, we've had several cloudy day's in a row and I think I am sun deprived.  For all you ladies living in the warm climates, can you bottle some up and send it my way.
Thanks for coming by, Cindy

  2. Cindy, I love the way your garland on the mantle looks like it is almost part of that picture with the birds. Of course, you know I love your b&w transferware plate and how you elevated it on books. Isn't it amazing how the weather really does affect the way we feel? It's been raining here today and tornado warnings, and I'm feeling so sleepy and so lazy. I went to an exercise class after work to try to bring me out of the dumps, and I think it helped some. Hope you get some sunshine soon. Light a fire in that beautiful fireplace, and relax. laurie

  9. Very Pretty! Really like the wreath. We are suppose to have a little sunshine tomorrow. Temps this week have been in 50's & 60's, but Winter is suppose to rear it's ugly face next week.
    Have a great weekend.

  15. Hi Cindy
Oh dear not nice weather then. I sure hope you get some nice sunshine soon it does make one feel dreary doesn’t it? We have been so lucky this winter. We haven’t had our usual snow so far or really cold. Its making things much easier to take.

I love your mantel. I can’t believe you got the screen for that price. It looks great. I love lanterns and I absolutely love the picture above your mantel. Nice that you have one you can change up with the seasons. It makes for a whole new look each season. I don’t have a mantel…

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend.
    Take care
    *hugs*

  19. If you lived closer we could window shop to get rid of our doom and gloom! We had almost a whole day of sunshine yesterday, and it felt wonderful after seemingly weeks of rain and today the rain is back in full Oregon force.

Me being housebound with this cold doesn't help my state of decorating mind. I did get half of a mirror spray painted while the getting was good. I really shouldn't work on stuff when I'm running a low fever. No telling how it will look :)

I'm thinking of doing that same thing to my fireplace front, getting a pretty item. Do you have gas or log fireplace? Thanks for sharing your mantel. Your home is always the coziest. I bet you and your family always love being home.

  23. Hello sweet girl...

Ohhh nooo...no "down in the dumps" for you, sweet lady!!! You know, we are having the same kind of weather here...just cold, gray, dreary days! You know what I do? I turn all the lights on...especially lights/lamps where all my pretty vignettes reside...put on 50's "Be-bop" music and enjoy the blogs! Hehe! You certainly have a very beautiful vignette to look at on your pretty mantel!!! I love your new winter look, Darlin'! Love that you used several colors...like the blues in your pretty plate...greens from that lovely stack of old books...yellows from the pretty floral, swirly thing-a-ma-jig (hehe) and sunflowers!!! They're all such subtle colors and look absolutely gorgeous together! It may be a winter mantel but it has some beautiful spring hopefuls to look at!!! I love how you layered everything too...I love that look! It gives your eye so much to look at...just flowing from one beautiful piece to another!!! You certainly were successful in achieving and doing this "layered" look very well, my dear friend!!! By the way...that's such a beautiful painting and your pretty pinecone wreath above it looks perfectly paired!!! Girl, you DID GOOD with this mantelscape!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!

Well Darlin'...do you and Dan have plans for the weekend? It's just the two of us this weekend...don't really have any plans other than making a trip into Walmart to do a little grocery shopping! My sweet friend...you know that I love you and just adore you!!! I do hope that my little note chased some of the "hum-drums" away!!! I'll talk with you later...

    Love ya, Sweetie...
    Chari

  24. I love the mantle, Cindy! Looks great!

And I would love to bottle some sunshine for you. It rained for two days prior to today, and we'e got nice sun today. But we had two weeks of freezing temps. We all freaked out! LOL! I didn't get out of bed for three days one week except to creep around in the bushes and turn on the spickets. One of my friends lost her pipes. As I said, we are helpless against cold elements.

    Sending warm hugs your way...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  26. Hi Cindy,
First of all I love your kitty, Cocoa.

Your mantel looks so lovely, warm and inviting.
It is all so well put together. I especially like the way you draped the beaded branches around the displays. Lovely.

I love seeing your mantel. We have the same fieldstone fireplaces, we just don't have a mantel on ours. We need Dan!!

I love: Your pretty jug of sunflowers, the beautiful yellow flower bud swag, the stack of books, the blue plate...hmmm, did I miss anything? Also love that pretty screen. Very cottagy!!

I hope you have a good weekend. Stay in touch! :-)
