Valentine Party at Laurie's

I am joining Laurie for her Valentine party!  And of course I am late, but I have a good excuse.
My Mom and I arrived back from Phoenix around midnight on Saturday.  When we left Phoenix it was 68 degrees.  When we arrived in Minneapolis it was minus 1.  My Mom has Parkinson's and getting her through the airport wasn't an easy task.  She tires easily and walking long distances is very hard for her.

After getting someone to help us through the airport and up to the parking garage to find our car it was probably about 1:00 a.m.  Oh and I forgot to mention I left my winter coat in son's car back in Phoenix.  So I borrowed my Mom's coat and headed out to start the car and brush off any snow  Well the car battery was as dead as a door nail.  It seems in my haste to get my Mom and I off to our flight I had left the GPS plugged in.  I called airport security and told them my dilemma. They said I would have to call a towing company.

Long story short.  After getting my car battery jumped and my Mom loaded in we drove to our motel.  By then we could have just drove home because we were both so wide awake.  I got my Mom and her luggage settled in our room and then I collapsed in bed.  I woke up the next morning to find my poor Mom was stuck in the bathtub. After all that had happened, helping my Mom out of the bathtub was no big deal.

We finally made it home and I have babysat my little grand-daughter the past 4 days.  So my energy level has hit an all time low.  So I hope you don't mind Laurie, but I am sharing some previous valentine photos.

Because it is taking me a few days to get caught up on my energy.

Other than my trip home, my trip to Phoenix was wonderful!  I got to spend some quality time with my little grand-daughter Calista and my son and his wife.  I also got to have lunch with some of my wonderful blogger buddies/ friends.
More on that later..I need to visit some you!
Have a lovely weekend,
Cindy

  1. Cindy! You sound like you went through the ringer! Glad you survived the ordeal. The car battery would have undone me. Your table is worth a second look. It is so festive!

    Feel better,

  2. Oh goodness what a challenging set of circumstances. Bless your heart for taking your mom and going through all of this by yourself. What a shock to go from 68 to minues 1! What an absolute bummer that your battery died! Your previous tablescapes are all so sweet- love the last one most! Stay warm- I know how it is...we're freezing and getting snow nearly daily over here in northern Michigan.

  9. Oh, my heart is with you. I remember the last time I ever flew my mother somewhere - to visit her sister and it turned out to be their last visit. It was not easy, but we had 70 degree weather.

I am glad you are home safe.

The two table settings you showed are absolutely gorgeous. I am going to look for some heart shaped dishes for my dinner party.

  10. Cindy dear, don't feel bad. Your old pictures will do just beautifully. I don't remember them..but then I don't remember anything anymore. :) On top of that..I didn't even know Laurie was HAVING a Valentine party. Was it invitation only? If that's the case..no wonder. I didn't get one! :)

  11. Cindy, tablescapes this beautiful should be shared over and over, so I'm happy to have them at my party! I'm so sorry for all of the troubles you faced getting home. It exhausted me to just read about it! A lot of good that winter coat will be in AZ! I hope by now you have recuperated. Thank you so much for your great advertisement of my party and for beautiful tablescapes you shared, my sweet friend. Hugs, laurie

  13. Oh Cindy, what an ordeal! I remember fling home from Pittsburgh when I was in college. It was winter break. No sooner did I get on the plane that I remembered I had left the parking lights on! Of course the battery was dead when I got back a week later, and had to wait in the freezing cold for road service!
I hope you have been able to get some rest, that babysitting is killer. When my son's 5 are here I need a transfusion to get through. It's times like that I wonder why I don't drink!
Your table are beautiful, love the napkins in the last one.
    Here from Laurie's party!
