Snowy Scenes

Brr....it's cold outside!   We've had a good bit of snow (in fact it snowed a little bit more this morning) So I thought you might enjoy some of the snowy scenes around Applestone Cottage.

Our trees are lovingly flocked by Mother Nature.
It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful this is.

And this is the view I see from my front porch.
I love when the trees appear to be misted with snow.

On my patio.  It may be awhile before we sit out in the sun and complain how hot it is!  he he.
Can you see it was snowing here?

This is also in our front yard.  I love the tall majestic pines, they have been growing for many years and provide a habitat for birds, bunnies and various other little creatures.
My hubby saw a Fisher here this past summer. It was the first time, they are very nocturnal and for a long time they were nonexistent  around here.

This view is from the other side of our front yard.
A lot of oak trees are here and yet even they look pretty when covered with newly fallen snow.

Along our road.  And yes I do drive out there.  What can I say, you just get used to it.
Tomorrow we are warming up to 28 degrees, it will be time to get out the shorts!
OK...not really but sometimes the college kids will be wearing shorts when it starts hitting 40 again.
You know winter is not my favorite season but I do like to have a bit of it and I do like snow.
My Mom comes home from the hospital tomorrow.  She has been in rehab since well before Christmas.
She has a long way to go but the biggest issue is her sight.  It's been stressful but we are getting by.
Happy Weekend all.

  1. Thanks for sharing your great pictures. Beautiful to look at, but please keep it up your way. :-D
Hope your Mother continues to improve.

  2. I think the snow is beautiful! Hot soup, sourdough bread, a glass of wine, a Lifetime movie and I'd be all set :)

  3. You really do get a lot of snow and I wondered if you were intimidated driving in it. I never was when I was younger and lived in the suburbs where it was really bad, and now in the city you are just creeping along anyway. get me on a highway and I am terrified. Very pretty though and I wish we would get a little.

I'm glad to hear your mom is making progress. One day at a time!

  4. I'm gonna stop complaining about our cold... Happy New year!

  5. OH BABY....it does look so cold there! Makes me want to wish you a fast coming spring! :)

  6. Wow Cindy, what a gorgeous setting! It's cold here too, but I think it's worse where you are! You should frame one of these snowy pictures for the porch when it's hot, just to remind you of what is coming! I hope your Mom continues her recovery. Linda

  7. It is looking very beautiful over there, Cindy. We are pretty cold here, too, and more snow coming tomorrow. I am sorry to hear about your Mom. Losing her sight must be awful for her and you. I will keep you all in my prayers- xo Diana

  8. Just Lovely, Cindy. We have not really had all that much snow here in Michigan, yet : )
    Thanks for sharing...
Sorry to hear about your Mom, praying that she continues to recover, well.

  9. Brrrr is right! It's certainly pretty, but I doubt I'd last long in those cold temps. ;-)
Hope your mom continues to improve. Happy New Year!

  10. SO beautiful Cindy! As much as I would love to snap my fingers and be transported back to the snow country, in time I would want to be back in Phoenix to thaw out. ha!
So thankful your Mom is coming home, but praying her health and eyesight improves in the days and weeks ahead. Keep us posted. Thanks Cindy.

  11. Oh my, it looks so cold outside. Beautiful to look at, but I don,t want to be out in it. Wish you were here. Hugs, marty

  12. Hi, Cynthia! I just found your blog and love it! We recently moved to a cottage on a lake and can relate to so much beauty surrounding us! I'm from northern Indiana and it gets really cold here, too! (It's 16 degrees, as I speak!) I love the snow, though, if I can look at it out my window! :) I've started following you and look forward to reading more of your posts!
    God Bless,
    Ann @ Cairn Cottage (http://cairncottage.blogspot.com/)

  13. The snow is beautiful! I would love to be sitting in a comfy chair looking out the window at it! Praying for your Mom.

  14. Pretty! Reminds me of those winters back home in Connecticut when we would get the heavy wet snow that clung to everything. Hope your Mom continues to improve and feel better.

  15. You know I LOVE this!!! Thank you for sharing your snow.

    Are you coming in February?

  16. What beautiful scenery, Cindy! It looks like my own back yard..... I am anticipating spring, though. I have been so cold in this damp, snowy weather. No shorts here for a long time!!!! Hope your mother recovers fully. Thinking of you and wishing you a blessed new year to come.

  17. I think the pictures are just beautiful...but...we have already had more snow here than we had all last winter I think. We haven't had as much as you have, but we drove home from Florida (where it was in the 80's for highs) and drove right into a wintery mix and then a snow storm about 2 hours from home. Welcome to Illinois...I wanted to turn around and go back! Happy New Year!

  18. Cindy, I really enjoyed seeing your photos. They show a winter wonderland! It really is beautiful, Cindy. We are in the 40s today; I'll try to send it north and east your way. lol

I would love to hear from you. Come back and visit anytime. Warmest Wishes, Cindy
