Hi All!
I am joining the lovely Sheila for her Heart of the Home Party.I've already toured so many of your wonderful kitchens!
What a great idea for a party! Thanks Sheila!
Below is how our kitchen looked when we moved in three years ago.
The counters, flooring and appliances were only a year old. The oak cupboards are older but still in good condition.
So with a wee budget we tried to add a little pizazz to this kitchen!
Another dark view. BB, meaning before blogging! There are great windows in here and it's probably my favorite feature.
Hubby added new pulls and knobs and the faux tin back splash!
I love the look and have been very pleased with it!
We painted, added a new faucet and light fixtures.
My antique hutch had previously sat at the end of this long kitchen. I like it so much better here.
And this is how our table looked when we moved in.
And when we moved the hutch we needed something really awesome to put in this space.
Hubby to the rescue! I found a pic of what I wanted and he built me this beautiful armoire!
It holds a ton of stuff and I got the cottage look I was seeking!
Hubby to the rescue again!
He painted our 30 year old table and it looks just how I want!
And for just the cost of paint!
Then I got busy and painted the old deacon bench!
A few more views.
I've been so busy helping my daughter with the baby that this post is kind of a mish-mash of things.
I hope you understand.
Take Care Everyone,
Cindy
I love your kitchen and it looks functional and pretty. The window treatments are perfect!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy!

Hello Cindy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming and bright kitchen...I love it! You're a brave woman to have your oak kitchen table painted...I'm still trying to get myself to paint a few wood pieces here in the house but haven't gotten brave enough yet. Good for you. I love the antique piece in there and also the one your hubby made for you..very nice indeed. Isn't it wonderful to have a hubby who can do things that! I hope you have a wonderful day. Maura :)
Oh honey, you took a very ordinary space and turned it into a charming heart of your home. It's just beautiful Cindy. Give that sweet Itty-bitty a squeeze from me. She's soooo precious, but I'm not tellin' ya a thing, am I?
ReplyDeleteHave a glorious 'fall' day sweeite!!!
Hi Girlfriend...
ReplyDeleteI had sooo much fun touring around your fabulous kitchen! Wow...adding a little color to the walls and that beautiful backsplash...just made the world of difference! I love, love, LOVE that backsplash! I just realized today that you have two different wall colors...right? All the walls are a lighter green than the color right around the sink? Cindy, I'm just green with envy every time I see your antique hutch and armoire that Dan made for you! Girl, that is some great storage space! I need a little of that storage space at my place! Ohhh...and I love your table painted white! Love, love, LOVE that gorgeous blue and white tablescape! Your autumn table is beautiful too!!! You know, your kitchen looks sooo pretty with the colors of autumn!!! This was such a treat, Girlfriend! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous kitchen with us! ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is AWESOME! You did a fabulous redo on it. How fortunate to have a hubby that can do all these wonderful things for you. My second 'husband', my handyman, fills in for my hubby, chuckle!
Have a great day ~

Love your kitchen, warm and cozy! All your touches make it that way!
ReplyDeleteCindy...as you WELL know by now, I love everything you do...and tend to be such a copy cat! I think I want to be "different" but then you do something...and I run for the spray paint! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the white table and chairs...YES! I want white kitchen cabinets..but my husband just will not go for it.
I love that you have windows in your kitchen. I do not..and it's dark..SO dark. I think the white cabinets would really help. What do you think...I would love your opinion!
Hugs,
Mona
Yay! What a thrill to see rest of your kitchen! I love how warm and cozy this is. Your tin backsplash is wonderful! Your husband did a beautiful job on that armoire. I all of your decor pieces too! It's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully furnished kitchen. Your hubby is so handy to have around. I love the armorie he made and the table looks wonderful in white.
ReplyDeleteYou have a really pretty kitchen. Love your newly painted table and chairs, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a friend that has the tin back splash and it's beautiful, too.
So pretty kitchen! Love the dinning area!
ReplyDeleteHow handy to have a DH to build cupboards! I had an armoire in our last breakfast to hide the microwave and small tv. Enjoyed your tour. I'm dropping by from Shelia's party. I hope you'll come see our kitchens at Atticmag - three for one!

Love your kitchen. Isn't it funny how once you paint one piece of furniture and are pleased with it how you look for more to paint? :-)
ReplyDeleteI looked at the faux tin backsplash and now that I see it in your place, looks pretty good.
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen. He built that furniture? WOW.
Please come and check out my book giveawys.
Isn't it amazing how white paint can change things? My husband likes the plain wood look but I love white. Your kitchen looks great! Hope the baby is doing well.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen! I love that you can have the hutch full of your dishes displayed right in eyesight! You did a great job updating and personalizing it. I really do love it! :)
ReplyDelete~Liz
you have such a lovely home...how's the new grand daughter doing? is your daughter holding up....remind her is gets easier...
ReplyDeleteIsn't paint a wonderful thing? your kitchen looks so cozy and nice. I did a back splash of recycled tin celing. It was a lot of work, wire brushing off the old paint but the results were great.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog. I will peek in on you and see how that grandbaby is doing. Can't wait to snuggle mine when she gets here.
Cathy
Hi Cindy, I have been out of the loop for the last few weeks taking care of my mom, so first of all I must say congratulations on that BEAUTIFUL baby Addison! She is so cute! I know you must be in love. And you are also a lucky lady to have a handy hubby. I like that backsplash--wonder if I could do it in my kitchen!! The armoire is great in that spot, and I like the table and chairs painted white! Have a great day and hope you are all getting some rest! :) Linda
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing your pretty and warm kitchen. Thanks for sharing your home with us. Yes - Babies do keep a person busy.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is oh so warm, cozy and CLEAN! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved visiting.
Hi Cindy! Wow you really have transformed your kitchen into "the heart of your home". Your kitchen already had good bones but you added just the right touches. It is cozy, beautiful, and functional. Just what a kitchen should be.
ReplyDeleteDon't ever apologize for spending time with that precious baby! It's what grandma's do! Hugs
Hi Cindy! I love your kitchen...so warm and cozy! You and your hubby did an amazing job of making it look so pretty! I know you are still floating, Grandma! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is yummy! You know I'm dying for that white table and chairs, don't you? And that antique hutch was the cherry on top.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Love your kitchen - it looks terrific! We used the "tin" backsplash at our former house - it was great.
ReplyDeleteLoved it!
I am always in AWE of your hubby's carpentry skills. I love Howard dearly but he is all thumbs!
And I can't think of a better excuse than a NEW BABY!!!!!
Oh wow -- and such a young mommy and young grandparents, too! I have two nice young men for Addison ... my sister's daughter Maggie, my goddaughter, had twin boys on 10/4 -- Luke and Calvin.
They are ADORABLE of course -- weighed about 7 lbs each, amazingly enough -- but the bad thing? they are in Michigan. Too far from me!
Enjoy snuggling your sweet granddaughter. What a blessing!!!
Cass
I love the blue and white tablescape and the tin backsplash. Your house is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is beautiful, Cindy. I love the layout. Lots of good work space. Your painted furniture is so pretty. The cabinet your husband built is fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI did not get the kitchen here at the lake or at home photographed, so no post. We are just having too much fun on this trip to the lake, I guess. I know I am sleeping better...wonder if it is due to all the meandering. If it is, I think we need to do lots of meandering!
Happy Weekend!
Ahhh, kitchens, I LOVE THEM.
ReplyDeleteThanks dear heart,

Your hubby is so talented, Cindy. The armoire that he built is gorgeous! I love your kitchen. It's so warm!...Christine
ReplyDeleteCindy, your kitchen is just as charming as I knew it would be. You know just how to add some wonderful interest and make a space inviting. I'm always impressed by your husband's skills. I remember seeing that cabinet he built in another post. The first time I saw that backsplash, I thought it was just about the neatest thing since sliced bread. I know you are enjoying little Addison. I'm so happy for you. laurie
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore you kitchen :) So warm and inviting!
