Front Porch Fluffing!

Hello friends.  It's definitely front porch fluffing time at Applestone Cottage.  Things have been looking pretty bleak.  Time to fluff and re-nest!

I have been very happy with my new table and chairs but the old rug was looking pretty scraggly.  Ta-da!  Enter new outdoor rug from Wally World.

A slightly different view.  Our porch faces the east, so it get a nice dose of morning sun.

The wicker chairs are next on the agenda.  They need some new paint and little fixing. I would like to find new ones, but hubby has convinced me that he can make them look as good as new.  Knowing him, he will!

I planted a couple baskets of geraniums.

Added some to the front door.

And next to the front door.

I gave the old bench a coat of red paint last summer and added some daisies and petunias.  In the lantern I placed some green apple candles.

Some more petunias over here.  They will be red and white when they bloom.

Now back to the table and chairs.  OOH, I do love my new rug!  I had looked at it for about a month.  I was afraid it was too orange but when I got it home and placed it under the table and chairs, the red looked just fine.

On the table I have kept it simple for now.  A little red checked place-mat, a redwing pot with a few daisies and a little red chair candle.

Complete with little faux bumblebee.

A slightly different angle.

I am hoping to do a few tablescapes out here when the weather gets a bit warmer.
Thanks for visiting everyone and ......

  10. What a sweet comment you left for me! I had to laugh...you even put my name where the word Mom was supposed to be for your mother. I grinned at that one..and I think you are right. I think we are even close in age aren't we? My precious husband died way before your father...fourteen years ago this December 15th.
I'm going on...but I will never be completely me again. She nursed her's too? :) Yes, I remember that it was not encouraged. My babies didn't have colic though...nor did the have that sour smell when they spit up. Mine got baths after spit up and full pants. lol My best friend would come over and hold my babies and stick her nose in their little necks. She still reminds me of that. :) And the smell of Sta-puf. All those soft baby clothes.
What fun it all was. No getting out of bed onto the cold floor for me..the babies were right next to me..until old enough to go to another room...ahhh...the memories.
Please tell her hello for me. I know I always say that..but I feel I know her.
    Hugs,
    Mona

  22. KNOCK KNOCK - Anybody home?

Oh well, I'll just make myself comfy out here on the porch until she gets home. Don't mind me.

New rug - looks FAB! All new flowers . . . love all the red and white - looks so comfy and perfect for a home named "Applestone Cottage".

I wonder if there is a jar of sun tea sitting around somewhere . . . hmmmm.

Boy the sun feels good sitting here in these cute little wicker chairs - but I think I would like more snow please. And deer - where are they? I'd even settle for a bear! or a PORCUPINE!

Well, nobody is coming home after all ~ they must be at work . . . I'll just leave this little note and let her know I stopped by.

    HI CINDY!!!!

:) Have a great day! Hugs! Karen

I am absolutely in love with that giant tea cup planter! I think the rug is perfect under your table which looks a little more reddish than red - does that make any sense at all? LOL! I love your porch and wish I could come over for a lemonade and sit and chat awhile!

  46. Hello Cindy~I've been (bribing)talking my hubs into building me a front porch, (sigh).
The red bistro set brightens up the porch so nicely. The dot tea cup planter fits perfect in your cozy setting.
I love the colors in your new rug from Wally World. I would love to add a punch of color to my patio, but I'm not sure if we've got a Wally world in our town.
We finally got back some sunshine this weekend too. Hubs worked in our backyard setting up the tent gazebo and filling the fountain. The birds have come out of the trees to take their first splash of the season.

    Sweet wishes,
    Sara

  50. I can see spending hours and hours out on that porch. It's so pretty! I'm with your husband, just paint the chairs. There is nothing as nice as older wicker chairs!

Where did you find that little chair candle holder? I've been looking for some like that.

    Hugs,

  51. You're going to laugh at me Cindy. Until I read this post, I though Wally World was a theme park! I'd only heard of it in the Sugarland song, and didn't know it was a store. I mean, she said "I'm heading off to Wally World". That sounds like a vacation destination to me :-) Thanks for explaining. I love all of your photos of your porch.

  53. DEAR CINDY,
I AM JUST GOING TO COME AND SET ON YOUR PORCH.
YOUR CHAIR CANDLE HOLDER IS ALMOST LIKE MY VINTAGE CHAIRS AND I AM GOING TO PAINT THEM RED THIS YEAR. I LOVE THEM.
I LOVE YOUR BISTRO TABLE AND THE BIG TEACUP PLANTER...IT MATCHES YOUR RUG PERFECTLY.
WHEN IT RAINS DO YOU BRING THE RUG IN OR LEAVE IT OUT.....I THOUGHT ABOUT PAINTING A RUG ON MY PORCH, AND THEN SEALING IT BUT A TRIP TO WALLY WORLD WOULD BE MUCH EASIER.
I TOO, THOUGHT FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS, WALLY WORLD WAS SOME KIND OF WATER PARK. THEN A FRIEND TOLD ME....I SAID, WELL HOW DID IT GET THAT NAME?
    NO ANSWER.
    YOUR FLUFFING LOOKS VERY PRETTY.
I GUESS YOU KNOW SHERRY IS IN THE HOSPITAL. MOTHER CALLED ME LAST NIGHT TO TELL ME. I GUESS HER ASTHMA IS BEING COMPLICATED BY BRONCHITIS AND SHE IS ON OXYGEN. MARYDON TALKS TO HER TWICE A DAY...SO SHE HAS THE UPDATES.

  54. I want to sit and talk on your front porch! It is so cute. I love the rug. It is so inviting and vibrant. I think most of all I would enjoy the green grass (not bermuda like we have in AZ), and the huge trees, and weather below 100. It looks absolutely wonderful. As for your husband fixing the wicker rockers, after seeing what he can do with a garage door and other furniture-Yeah, I think he's got it covered. Great Job on the Front Porch.
