Autumn Mantel on the Cheap!

With big weather changes coming our way, I thought today would be a good time to start moving into Fall decor.   Not that I want summer to end, but I seem to have little control over that.  Our high today....87,  our high on Thursday about 60 with possible frost.   So getting with the program, I changed out my mantel today.  I shopped the house instead looking for new.
The cute apple, butter pumpkin sign was a gift from my daughter.

Indian corn from last year, dried hydrangeas from my garden and my stacked yellow birdies.
My living room is done in blue's, yellow's and red's so I always find it a challenge since orange isn't a good color in here.

Acorns in an apothecary jar.

Yellow and red sunflowers!

A little wagon and scarecrow which my grand-daughter will play with!

I have a hard time getting good pics back here because it seems to cast dark shadows.
So are you ready for Fall ?   Or should I say ready or not it's on the way!
Hopefully we will see more summer like weather before old man winter comes around!

Cindy

I am joining Marty for Tabletop Tuesday.

  11. Fall is my favorite season here where I live, because it starts to cool down and the nights and mornings are crisp...well maybe not quite crisp...60 for a low...crisp for here! I also like the way the mountains in front of our house look this time of year...the views can be breathtaking!

  16. Great job Cindy! I love decorating for fall... even though it's still hot here.
Randy & I are driving to the North RIm of the Grand Canyon tomorrow morning for two nights camping in our van, right next to the rim... and I can hardly wait! It's 1000 ft. higher than the South Rim... so it should get quite chilly YEH!
Oh and I absolutely adore acorns!

  24. Looking good Cindy....I, too, have started bringing in the fall....from what I hear, though, we'll be lucky to get near 60 the next few days - and downright freezing rather than frost. Too, too, early for me!!! Cozy up, and decorate on!!! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  29. Hi Cindy, Your mantel looks great! You've inspired me to get going on adding some fall touches here. Today was potentially our 90th day in the 90's! Yikes! Oh, I was glad to see a copy of "Gone with the Wind" on your mantel. Glad that southern book made it all the way up north - LOL. Linda

Ohhhh...your autumn mantel is BEAUTIFUL!!! Of course, you know that your rock fireplace just "sings of autumn" to me! I love it! Your mantel decor is perfect, Girlfriend! I love your tall crock with the grapes on it...sooo pretty! And...it looks gorgeous with the red and yellow sunflowers! Love the Indian corn...I have been looking for some and haven't found any yet! Isn't it funny...Indian corn is probably one of the items that most remind me of autumn...childhood memories.

Well sweet friend, I really do love your pretty mantel...thanks for sharing it with us! What are you up to this week? I'm still "slowly..but surely" getting my autumn decor together. Eeeks...if I get any slower...I'm going to have to start at the beginning of summer! wink!

  36. DEAR Cindy!! You've done it once again! I love your mantel. Mine is not done and I must get busy..I start and stop..and start again. Too much going on outside I guess. Planting Fall flowers etc. So much burned up during the heat...but it was time for some "new" anyway.

I love the hazelnuts in the apothecary jar.
Just sweet..the books..everything. The little sign is wonderful! Yep..you have inspired me and I have to get busy. Fall is almost here. Officially it begins on the 23rd so I must make haste! LOL I just throw the date around to make myself feel better!! :)
Love and hugs to you, Sweetie..

  37. Hey there my Friend!
You are just the busy bee. Everybody is putting their Autumn up - except me. It's supposed to climb back into the mid 90's next week (YUCK!) I just cannot get inspired when it does that.
But ... if you saw my house - you'd know why I am just not in an inspired mood right now. HOpefully it will look as calm and cozy as yours very soon.
Remember, when those first snowflakes fall - CALL ME!!!!! :)
    HUGS! i miss you!

  41. Cindy, I am finally checking in on my blog, and I just wanted to drop by and visit you and tell you how much I appreciate your sweet thoughts and kind words. They mean so much, and you are such a good bloggy friend, one of the many reasons I love you.

Your mantle looks so cute. Can you beleive it's fall already? What happened to summer??? Seems that it was only spring yesterday. Talk about time flying!

I'm heading down to check on Adelaide's girls tomorrow, and while we are all still sad, we're each trying to find a new "normal" and being thankful for all the blessings in each day.

Sending you much, much love and hoping that all is well wtih you and your dear ones.

    XO,

    Sheila
